Adattatore esterno plug-in
Un adattatore esterno plug-in è un alimentatore CA-CC che converte la fornitura di corrente alternata (CA) in corrente continua (CC). L'alimentatore CA-CC di livello base consiste di trasformatore, diodi raddrizzatori e un condensatore. Questa alimentazione semplice e non regolata di solito non offre funzionalità e prestazioni adeguate per gran parte delle applicazioni, ma prevede moduli che implementano convertitori più sofisticati, quali i regolatori di commutazione e controller di scambio di calore. Una delle metriche più comuni utilizzate per caratterizzare le prestazioni degli alimentatori CA-CC è l'ondulazione in uscita che quantifica la variazione della tensione di ondulazione nel tempo.
